Steve Gourdeau, from Peninsula Branch 62, was presented with the "Meritorious Service Medal" Award at the Branch Annual General Meeting on January 4th, 2021.  This is one of the highest awards that the Legion can bestow on a member for things that are done over and above being a Legion member over a long period of time.  It is activities that he has done that such as identify a need in the community or Legion and taking the action required to fill the need, contributions of personal sacrifice, time or professional expertise that has brought great credit to the branch and to the community or enhanced the image of the Legion within the community, acting as the point of contact between the Legion and other community organizations to ensure that efforts are coordinated when the task is too great for one organization and organizing branch resources to assist the community during a disaster or other pressing need.
